- AP
- Application Protocol - the implementable component of ISO 10303 STEP which specifies an information model to support a specific business domain.
- AP239
- An ISO 10303 STEP Application Protocol (ISO 10303-239) supporting the Product Life Cycle Support. It is the major output from the PLCS, Inc. 4 year program.
- DEX
- Data Exchange Set - a PLCS Inc. construct, similar in purpose to a STEP AP Conformance Class, but based on the ARM Model of AP239 and supported by additional usage guidance and reference data to ensure consistent implementation. The data model within any DEX could also be published as a Conformance Class of AP239 if so desired.
- DEXlib
- DEXlib is the XML environment used to develop and store the PLCS OASIS DEXs.
- OASIS
- Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (http://www.oasis-open.org)
- OWL
- Web Ontology Language - A W3C recommendation (http://www.w3.org/2004/OWL/) for defining Ontologies (Class structures).
- PLCS
- Product Life Cycle Support - The project developing ISO 10303-239.
- RDL
- Reference Data Library - a computer accessible library holding reference data.
- Reference Data
- information (such as standardised terminology, classifications, values, etc.) that is referred to by more than one application in an enterprise or project. Reference data ensures that common terminology and classifications are used by all the applications - this is particularly important in data exchange so that a receiving system can understand the data it is sent.
- STEP
- ISO 10303 - The Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data. A family of standards for product data exchange.
- W3C
- World Wide Web Consortium (http://www.w3c.org) - The standards body for the web.
